3 popular acts to stir it up at Harrah’s in Bluffs

Three insanely popular acts — Snoop Dogg, Bush and Bon Iver — are coming to Stir Cove at Harrah’s Casino in Council Bluffs.

The Dogg-father will play the Cove on July 28. His first appearance in the Omaha area was last June at Stir.

Snoop’s hits include “Gin and Juice,” “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and “Sexual Seduction.” He’s probably one of the most sought-after singers for music cameos. (He was featured in Big Time Rush’s “Boyfriend” song.) He endorses just about every product imaginable, from gum to cars to malt liquor.

Bush fans will get their fix when the British rock band makes its way to Stir on Aug. 13.

Frontman Gavin Rossdale knows fans want to hear such ’90s classics as “Glycerine,” “Machine Head” and “Everything Zen.”

In 2009, Rossdale gave a superb solo performance at the Whiskey Roadhouse, adjacent to Horseshoe Casino in Council Bluffs. To amuse fans, he performed a handful of Bush hits as well.

Indie rocker Bon Iver will perform at Stir with Kathleen Edwards at 8 p.m. Sept. 8.

Music critics said “For Emma, Forever Ago,” his 2008 debut, punctuated a new era of male sensitivity. His self-titled sophomore album reached second on Amazon’s alternative rock chart, 10th on the rock chart and 13th in pop.

Tickets for each show are $30 in advance. For Snoop and Bush, they’re $35 the day of the show. For Bon Iver, they’re $33 the day of the show. They all go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at www.stircove.com

Mötley Crüe is kicking off the three-day Sunset Strip Music Festival on Aug. 18 with a special tribute at the House of Blues. They’re going to be presented with the Elmer Valentine Award for their contributions to the history of The Sunset Strip. The City of West Hollywood will also recognize Mötley Crüe with a special day in their honor.

The hair band is also closing the outdoor street festival on Saturday, Aug. 20, when the Sunset Strip is closed to traffic to host a full day of music. Aside from the street fest, there will be 50 more bands in the venues, plus after parties at various venues on the strip. Tickets are currently on sale via TicketWeb (www.ticketweb.com/SSMF). Tickets are $55 for early bird day passes to $250 for a three day pass.

From the home of Bush’s Official Website a teaser was posted today giving word on the upcoming album. Simply stated ‘New Album, The Sea Of Memories, Coming September 2011‘. Now we have a month in which it will be released, but (as I long suspected) we also have a new album title. Bush have scrapped the original title ‘Everything Always Now’ which was meant to be released October 2010. Due to conflicts with their record company at the time they switched labels (which one, who knows) and got back in the studio to record more tracks. The big question now, what happen to the songs lined up for EAN? Vaulted maybe.
