Two of the best looking people in rock and roll- Gwen Stefani, the lead singer of the Southern California band No Doubt, and Gavin Rossdale the British-born front man for Bush- are getting hitched. On January 8, Rossdale, 34, announced that he had proposed to Stefani, 32, on January 1 in London, they will set a date later in the year. “I asked her on New Year’s Day at around 3 PM when I woke up,” Rossdale wrote on Bush’s official Web site. “It was always gonna happen.” The pair met in December 1995 when their bands performed at a holiday concert in Los Angeles, the next year, No Doubt opened for Bush’s headlining tour. While Rossdale was linked with Courtney Love in the mid-90’s, Stefani’s only other serious beau was No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal, whom she dated from 1987 to 1994 (their split was chronicled on the band’s 1995 breakthrough album, Tragic Kingdom). Stefani and Rossdale’s globe trotting lifestyle have meant that they’ve often been apart during their six-year relationship, but Stefani recently called 2001 “a magical year, [because] we spent so much time together and got to really know each other.”
