LONDON — Actor-producer Michael Madsen has signed up British rock band Bush’s front man, Gavin Rossdale, and soccer player-turned-actor Vinnie Jones to star in the crime drama “Red Light Runners,” the producers said Thursday. Rossdale will have an undisclosed role and will contribute to the soundtrack for the film, which Madsen, via his Choctaw production outfit, will co-produce with producer and scriptwriter Clark Westerman.

Westerman has said that “Red Light Runners” raised the minimum investment level of £2 million ($3.1 million) required to qualify for a U.K. Enterprise Investment Scheme. The filmmakers aim to raise a total of £8 million ($12.3 million) for the production budget by using the initial cash as leverage.

Madsen will star in “Red Light Runners” and currently is negotiating with Harvey Keitel and Dennis Hopper to appear in the film. The project already has signed British actor Martin Kemp (“The Krays”), Christopher Penn (“Reservoir Dogs”), and Ian Buchanan (“Panic Room”) to star alongside Madsen.

British music video director Nick Egan, who has helmed videos for acts including Alanis Morrissette, Oasis, and Kylie Minogue, will direct.
